William W. Nelson

William W. Nelson, age 90, died peacefully at his home in Camp Hill on September 26 with his family at his side.

Bill was a graduate of Lititz High School; born in Elm, PA on April 25, 1933 to the late William K. and Mary B. (Weber) Nelson. He was married to Eleanor (Steffy) Nelson, his high school sweetheart, for 71 years. He worked at Armstrong Cork Company prior to a career with Nationwide Insurance, where he started as a sales training manager before becoming regional sales manager. He was also a member of the Nationwide Retirees group.

He was a Mason and a member of Tall Cedars and Shrine. He enjoyed gardening, reading and playing cards with his family. He was a member of Sun ‘n’ Lake Country Club in Sebring, FL for 30 years where he and Eleanor made many friends and played lots of golf. He had five holes in one! But his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a Boy Scout leader and very proud to have a son and grandson who became Eagle Scouts. He and his wife were longtime members of Eberly’s Mill Church of God, Camp Hill.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Robert A. Nelson (wife, Sallie) of Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ and David L. Nelson (wife, Donna) of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Monica Nelson Smith (husband, Josh), William S. Nelson Jr. (wife, Kellie), David L. Nelson Jr. and Ashley A. Nelson; great-grandchildren, Leah and Connor Nelson, and William D. Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, William S. and Kathryn Nelson; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Galen Mosser.

A memorial service will be held at 12PM on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Eberly’s Mill Church of God, Camp Hill. A visitation hour will take place from 11AM until services begin in the church. Committal will be private and held at a later date in Penryn Cemetery, Lancaster County.
