William Hammond Pritchard Jr., 76, of Mechanicsburg went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2024 with his wife by his side. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on September 16, 1948 to the late William and Eleanora Bierbower Pritchard. Bill was a proud Coast Guard Veteran and continued his service to his country working for the Department of Defense in New Cumberland where he retired in 2011. Known for his craftsmanship and love for working with his hands, Bill had a special knack for carpentry and remodeling projects. In his earlier years, he played baseball and later coached for many years. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies. With a big heart for animals and those with special needs, Bill was always lending a helping hand. He was also known for sharing his faith, wisdom, and sense of humor with others.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Martha Pritchard; two sons, Timothy and Nathan Pritchard; two step-daughters, Jessica McVicker and Leanne Smith; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a brother, Al Pritchard; two sisters, Barbara Key and Deb Pritchard; and a sister-in-law, Martha Pritchard. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by a brother, Ron Pritchard.
Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Vibrant Church, 1775 Lambs Gap Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 with Pastor Carl George officiating. Burial will take place at Rolling Green Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In honor of Bill's giving nature, memorial contributions to your favorite charity are requested in lieu of flowers.
