Winifred Elizabeth (Geiling) Prowell, formerly of Mechanicsburg and Shermans Dale, peacefully passed into eternal life on November 10, 2017 while residing at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle, PA.
She was the daughter of the late Adam and Grace (Kapp) Geiling and the widow of Elmer A. Prowell after 60 years of marriage. In addition to her husband and parents, Winnie was preceded in death by two grandsons, Gregory M. Snelbaker and Stephen T. Prowell; and 2 sisters.
Winnie was born on January 7, 1916 in Mechanicsburg, PA and graduated from Quincy High School, Quincy, PA in 1934. While attending high school she was awarded The American Legion Medal for outstanding academic and athletic achievements. She was retired from ARA services while working at Mechanicsburg Naval Depot after many years of dedicated service.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg PA. Winnie enjoyed playing cards, reading, crocheting, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and going on senior bus trips.
Winifred is survived by her daughter Patricia A. (Prowell) Snelbaker of Lemoyne, PA; son Gerald W. Prowell (Joanne) of Camp Hill, PA; grandchildren Gwen M. Snelbaker, Michael S. Prowell, Kerri L. (Prowell) Jordan, Jason S. Prowell, Kory A. Prowell, and Lindsey E. (Prowell) Myers; 10 great grandchildren; and 4 great- great grandchildren.
