Mrs. Yat Lai Au, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2022, at the age of 95 at her home in Tamarac, FL. Lai was born on September 6, 1926 in Guangdong Province, China. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 36 years, Harry K. Au.
Mrs. Au emigrated to the United States in 1945 with her husband and resided in New York City before moving to the Harrisburg, PA area in 1963 She and her husband owned and operated the Canton Inn restaurant in downtown Harrisburg until their retirement in 1977.
Lai was a lifelong Christian who made friends wherever she went. She was a long-time member of the Harrisburg Chinese Alliance Church and the Chinese Baptist Church of Coral Springs, FL.
She is survived by her daughter Lin Au of Lemoyne, PA, by her sons Thomas (Justina Wasicek) Au of Harrisburg, PA, Leo (Melina) Au of Bonita Springs, FL, Jack (Shue) Au of East Northport, NY; by four grandchildren, Connie Au of New York City, Christopher (Cindy) Au of Sunnyvale, CA, Serena (John) Tong of East Northport, NY, and Thomas (Kristyn Ostman) Au of Washington, DC, and by three great grandchildren, Cadence Au, Chandler Au, and Chase Au.
A private ceremony and burial will be held at the Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, NJ.
